The government has just launched a new funding opportunity as part of the renewable energy scheme

The government has just announced the launch of £265million funding, the biggest ever for the renewable energy scheme. Businesses specialising in renewable energy have the opportunity to receive part of this funding. The scheme is designed to encourage investment in low-carbon electricity by providing developers with upfront costs.

What is the funding for?

This government renewable energy scheme funding is to encourage investment in low-carbon electricity by providing developers with upfront costs.

£10million will go towards established technologies which includes onshore wind and solar power. With £200million to support offshore wind projects/farms, and £55million available to support emerging renewable technologies.

The Energy Minister, Anne-Marie Trevelyan, said:

“The Contracts for Difference scheme has helped the UK become a world leader in clean electricity generation and lowered prices for consumers.”

“The new plans set out today deliver on the Prime Minister’s Ten Point Plan and will support the next generation of renewable electricity projects needed to power our homes and meet our world-leading climate change targets.”

Eligibility

You will be eligible for this funding if you are a business that specialises in renewable energy. This includes the following:

  • Less-established technology, such as floating offshore wind, tidal stream, geothermal and wave.
  • Established technologies such as onshore wind, solar and hydropower.

This round will open for bids in December 2021. If you need support, you can schedule some time with our Grant Writing Consultants.

Our tips for applying for funding

There are a few important things to keep in mind when you apply for grant funding. You do not want to waste time doing it wrong! So, here are some of our tips that you should keep in mind when applying for government funding.

  • Make sure you are eligible.

There is no point in applying for a fund you don’t stand a chance in being awarded.

  • Your proposal should be well written.

It needs to be clear and concise, so you get your points across clearly.

  • Proofreading is essential.

You should proofread and edit your work before you submit it. If your proposal is littered with mistakes and grammatical errors, you come across lazy and unprofessional.

  • Back up your claims with evidence.

You should always include relevant evidence to back up your claims. It’s no good saying you expect to provide renewable energy to 1,000,000 buildings if your figures don’t back you up.
